Pool Full Lifeguard (2-day) Training Course

This pool lifeguard training course has no prerequisites other than the participant must be a minimum of 16 years of age. It is suitable for anyone seeking the qualifications needed to work as a Pool Lifeguard.

To meet the requirements of this award, all applicants will need to complete and be deemed competent in the SISSS00133 – Pool Lifeguard (Skill Set), which consists of:

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid (includes a current HLTAID009 Provide CPR)
  • SISCAQU019 Supervise clients in aquatic locations
  • SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues
  • SISCAQU021 Perform complex water rescues
  • SISCAQU022 Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment

You MUST have already completed the unit HLTAID011 – Provide first aid prior to enrolling in this two-day course. Your Statement of Attainment will be requested upon enrollment.

The HLTAID011 unit is a pre-requisite for SISCAQU022 – Provide oxygen
resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment.

If you do not hold the unit HLTAID011 – Provide first aid,
you must enrol in the 3 Day Pool Lifeguard course or complete
the unit before enrolling in this 2 Day course.

This two-day course covers the following content:
• Techniques for applying first aid in a range of situations and injuries specific to Lifeguarding.
• Applying DRSABCD
• The Role of a Pool Lifeguard
• The legal considerations
• Aquatic Risk (analyse & mitigate)
• Aquatic Supervision (SISCAQU019)
• Aquatic Rescues (SISCAQU020 & SISCAQU021 )
• Oxygen use and advanced care of the patient (SISCAQU022)
• Incident reporting
• Communication methods & skills

Physical Assessments (wet component):

  • Fitness Test: Swim 400m continuously within 13 minutes. 100m freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100m survival backstroke, 100m sidestroke;
    OR
    Fitness Test – Swim 200m in less than 6 minutes (using any stroke)
  • Timed Tow: Swim 50m, then tow a patient 50m within 3min 15 sec.
  • Survival and Rescue Skills: Demonstrate a range of survival techniques and appropriate rescues for a range of different aquatic environments and scenarios
  • Spinal Injuries: Basic management of a suspected spinal injury in shallow water
  • Rescue Initiative: Demonstrate initiative in effecting a rescue of two people who are in difficulty up to 15m from safety
  • Deep Water Retrieval Test: the ability to retrieve an object from the deepest water within the aquatic environment
  • Lift Test: ability to lift a swimmer out of the water (using appropriate manual handling procedures)
  • Rescue Test: 25m swim / 25m non-contact tow in less than 1 min and 45 seconds
  • Rescue Response Scenario

Delivery Mode: Online, Face to Face

Course duration: 2 Days (16 Hours)

Price Perth: $3300 and includes up to ten (10) participants. Additional participants can be added for $330.00 per participant.

Price Broome: $3900 and includes up to five (10) participants. Additional participants can be added for $390.00 per participant.

This Pool Lifeguard training program is a convenient and intensive course that can save you time and money. It provides you with all the necessary industry qualifications required to work as a Pool Lifeguard. This is an entry-level qualification that can lead to an exciting career in the aquatic recreation industry.

Location: The lifeguard courses are conducted at locations that suit our client’s needs.

Minimum Age Requirements: 16 years old

This course is delivered and assessed on behalf of Macbec Pty Ltd as Registered Training Organisation (RTO)
