The Beach vehicle driver award (BVDA) covers knowledge, skills and understandings for ATVs, quad bikes and 4WD vehicles used by professional ocean lifeguards in their workplace that is predominantly a beach environment.

Beach Vehicle Driver Award (BVDA) captures the separate professional lifeguard Strand awards ATV Beach Driver Award (ATVBDA) and 4WD Driver Beach Award (4WDBDA).

As required for the ATVBDA and 4WDBDA, The DVDA minimum prerequisite includes a current motor vehicle driver’s license as well as currency in Professional Ocean Lifeguard (POL) Award Annual proficiency certificate.

This annually assessed BVDA enables ocean lifeguards who have attained the nationally accredited unit of competency PUAVEH001 Drive vehicle under operational conditions, to demonstrate currency in the competencies required in the use of ATVs, quad bikes, and 4WD vehicles in ocean lifeguard workplaces. Professional lifeguard training courses without Drive vehicles under operational conditions can also be assessed annually to retain currency in the BVDA.
