Pool Full Lifeguard (3-Day) Training Course

This pool lifeguard training course has no prerequisites other than participants being at least 16 years old. It suits anyone seeking the qualifications needed to work as a Pool Lifeguard.

Becoming a pool lifeguard is more than just a job; it’s about saving lives, creating safer spaces, and building confidence in and around the water, and this is what our swimming pool lifeguard course is all about. The lifeguard training course at West Coast Water Safety includes everything you will need. It makes it perfect for anyone who is looking to step into the industry with the right qualifications.

 

Nationally Recognised Units of Competency

To meet the requirements of this award, all applicants will need to complete and be deemed competent in the SISSS00133 – Pool Lifeguard (Skill Set), which consists of:

  • HLTAID011 Provide first aid (includes HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary resuscitation & HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support)
  • SISCAQU019 Supervise clients in aquatic locations
  • SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues
  • SISCAQU021 Perform complex water rescues
  • SISCAQU022 Provide oxygen resuscitation and therapy in an aquatic environment

 

Course Details

Course Duration: 24.5 hours (over 3 days) –  (18 hours face-to-face learning + 6.5 hours theory & practical assessments)
Delivery Mode: Blended Online and Face to Face
Location: The course is conducted at various locations within Western Australia.

 

Physical Assessments:

  • Perform CPR on infant & adult manikins
  • Maintain Resuscitation Equipment
  • Complete an equipment fault log
  • Recognise and respond to three (3) scenarios
  • Perform two (2) non-swim rescues – reach and throw
  • Swim 25m and perform a 25m non-contact tow of a patient. Working as a team, extract a patient from deep water using extraction equipment. Provide oxygen therapy for shock.
  • Swim 10m, then complete a minimum 10m contact tow of a conscious patient, and remove the patient from the water without assistance.
  • Perform a rescue of a casualty with suspected spinal injury using spinal immobilisation techniques and extraction equipment from shallow water.
  • Swim 25 metres and then retrieve an object replicating a person at the deepest part of the pool at the aquatic facility (but no greater than two (2) metres and perform a 25 metre contact tow of an unconscious casualty and demonstrate advanced resuscitation techniques.

 

Course Fees (Inc HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation requalification)

Perth Price: $4,050 and includes up to ten (10) participants. Additional participants can be added for $405 per participant*.

Broome Price: $4,650, including up to ten (10) participants. Additional participants can be added for $465 per participant*.

*Plus pool admission, lane & training room hire where applicable.
